All FE and training staff, board members and volunteers need to be trained in the Prevent duty. Ofsted’s review: “How Well are FE and Skills providers implementing the “Prevent”duty”recommends that Ofsted should “raise further its expectations of providers to implement all aspects of the ‘Prevent’ duty, and evaluate the impact this has on keeping learners safe”. From September 2016 the focus on implementation of the Prevent duty will be important in all inspections.
We offer in-house training on Prevent and British values. One day of training costs £975 including expenses. Please email Prevent@etfoundation.co.uk if you are interesting in discussing booking this course which can be tailored to your provision.
The Education and Training Foundation, funded by the Department for Education, have developed free online training modules for:
- Support staff
- Leaders and managers
- Board members
- support staff easy read version
- Employers with apprentices, students on placement or trainees
- Subcontractors not directly involved in education or training
- Host families
These training modules sit on the Foundation Online Learning platform and are available at www.foundationonline.org.uk. Staff, governors and board members can follow the on line training modules then take an assessment. This should not take longer than 50 minutes in total. If they achieve 85% or more they will be able to print off a Foundation certificate of achievement.
The modules set out the requirements of the Duty in the FE and training sector and include case studies, which bring the Prevent duty to life. The aim of the Foundation is to give those who complete the modules an understanding of how the Prevent duty applies in the FE and training context. These modules complement the material found on this website which provides sample policies, risk assessments, curriculum and staff guidance etc.
If you need to track the progress of your staff we offer the Provider Access System (PAS). The PAS enables you to upload the email addresses of all the staff you want to take the modules and allows you to produce reports of progress and completion at group and individual levels.
The Home Office has produced a new Prevent e-Learning product to provide an introduction to Prevent aimed at objective two of the Prevent strategy – supporting vulnerable people. It has been developed to raise awareness of and explain Prevent within the wider safeguarding context
